About the course

This course aims to enhance the presence of dance in the Teatro Real through a general introduction to basic aspects of its origin and evolution over time. The course responds to the need to increase the knowledge of dance as a performing art by the audiences of the Teatro Real.

About the teacher

Ana Abad Carlés has a doctorate in music from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and considers that dance is the most fragile and the most ephemeral of the arts, since it lives in the continuous movement of bodies and is transmitted only through physical memory and visual. She has participated in numerous national and international conferences, including the Congress on Serge Diaghilev in Saint Petersburg in 2019 or the recent Congress of the Dance Studies Association in New York in 2021. She was also invited to the National Dance Forum and Book Fair in Dominican Republic in 2016. He is currently a member of the research group of the I+D+i Project: Following the steps of the Sylph. Dance in Spain (1836-1936) and member of the Dance and Society Studies Research Group at the UCAM.
