Pablo Heras-Casado principal guest conductor at the Teatro Real

The Teatro Real has named Pablo Heras-Casado as the Guest Principal Conductor to the institution

The Spanish conductor will hold this position for the next three seasons (15/16-17/18) working together with the Musical Director at the Teatro Real, Ivor Bolton, to artistic developing the resident Choir and Orchestra.

The Teatro Real offered him the position due to his talent as an artist, his reputation and the international renown of the Spanish conductor. Heras-Casado, named Conductor of the Year 2014 by the American magazine Musical America and conductor at the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in New York, has conducted some of the most prestigious symphonic orchestras and chamber groups in the world. His career covers great symphonic works and operatic pieces, from historical pieces to more contemporary music.

In the Teatro Real, Pablo Heras-Casado conducted an acclaimed production of The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny by Kurt Weill during the 2010-2011 season, (September-October 2010) and also conducted Il Postino by Daniel Catán during the 2012-2013 season (July 2013). During the current season, in 2015, he will again lead the resident Choir and Orchestra at the Teatro Real as principal Conductor for the first ever performance of El Público by Mauricio Sotelo (February-March 2015), and during the concert for the War Requiem by Benjamin Britten (12-14 March).
