Synopsis and more information
Basada en el clásico inolvidable de Shakespeare, el argumento de la ópera sigue la trágica historia de amor entre Romeo y Julieta. Los dos protagonistas provienen de familias enemigas de Verona, los Montaigu y los Capulet, pero se enamoran apasionadamente a pesar de saber que el suyo es un amor imposible. Con la ayuda de un fraile amigo, deciden casarse en secreto. Desgraciadamente, las circunstancias se complican y acaban en una serie de trágicos malentendidos que llevan a la muerte de los dos amantes.

The King of Jerusalem, Hidraot, entrusts his niece, Armide, a Muslim princess, with the task of fighting the Christian crusader army of Godfrey of Bouillon, who is trying to conquer the city. The princess has unleashed all her fury to stop the enemies of her kingdom and has captured hundreds of them with the spell of her gaze, all except for Reinaldo, whom she cannot seduce and has to kill. But she cannot commit the crime herself because she has fallen in love with the young warrior. Defeated and abandoned by her lover, she desperately mourns his betrayal and departure.

The opera is based on the dream of a person who involves the audience in their experience. In it, Titania, queen of the fairies, also undergoes a change in her life due to dreaming. The action takes place in an enchanted forest dominated by the Moon and inhabited by fantasy creatures like fairies, elves, goblins, and nymphs. They seek universal harmony but see their magical world suddenly in danger. After the triumph of love and sanity, the original order returns and the cosmos is restored.

Durante una tormenta, el general Otello regresa victorioso a casa con su joven esposa Desdémona a la que ama con locura. Allí se ve atrapado en una perversa conspiración urdida por el alférez Iago, que está dispuesto a hacer cualquier cosa para destruirle. Iago aprovecha su estrecha relación con Otello para hacerle creer lo que ya cree todo el mundo: que no es posible que una dama así se pueda haber enamorado de alguien como él. Iago proporciona pruebas falsas de la culpabilidad de Desdémona, avivando la ira de Otello, quien devorado por los celos repudia públicamente a su mujer y la estrangula en su cama. Cuando descubre la verdad, Otello se apuñala hasta la muerte.

The plot is set in an exotic, colonial context, focusing on encounters between Europeans and indigenous people from different parts of the world. The opera is divided into four acts, each of which presents an independent story, although all are connected by the central theme of intercultural encounters. The acts are set in Turkey, Peru, Persia and North America respectively, and explore themes such as love, war, diplomacy and reconciliation between different cultures.
