The barber of Seville

New Production of the Real Teatro de Retiro, in coproduction with the Teatro de la Maestranza of Sevilla

Inspired by the work of the genius Beaumarchais, there is something about this dynamic and far-fetched story that is much more interesting than what one might imagine at first sight. The plot compares two generations with their different desires, ambitions, and ways of perceiving the world. Rossini portrays his characters exactly as they are, putting into practice a powerful resource like no other to explain reality: irony. An irony that is not only in the text but also in the music, and that encases a wonderful sense of comedy.
