The Teatro Real closes the 2016/ 2017 season with Macbeth, the magnificent opera by Giuseppe Verdi which pays tribute to William Shakespeare and one of the most sinister antiheros in literature. Macbeth is the first of the three operas which Verdi composed with the inspiration of Shakespeare who was his favourite writer. It illustrates the savage consequences of ambition for power in a concise way. This concert version will be conducted by James Conlon with the return of Plácido Domingo to the Teatro Real in the lead role.
