Giselle
Titular Orchestra of the Teatro Real
The renowned and long-established Bavarian company gives the kick off to the ballet season at the Teatro Real with Giselle, a classic which is a must for lovers of dance. This is the second time the German ensemble comes to the stage at the Plaza del Oriente. The first time, in 1999, was also with this ballet by Adolphe Adam, choreographed by nonagenarian Sir Peter Wright based on the original in 1841 by Coralli, Perrot and Petita. On this occasion the production is under the vigilant eye of Igor Zelensky, director of the company and former star of companies such as the Marinsky of St. Petersburg or the New York City Ballet. He has revived the production injecting a new spirit and colour without renouncing the classicism for which it has always been characterised. In the four performances, we will observe the impeccable technique which the ballet corps emanates and the virtuosity of the protagonists of this story of naivety, love, folly and a lot of fantasy. In summary: every bit a classic where the elegant brio of its execution presents an insight for the spectator.
